Evolution

You know how everything goes in cycles? Everything has some kind of start, peak and then descend back to where it came from. To specify our topic little more, let's talk about music.

I bet that everyone can see long lines that holds up modern rock and punk music, every new band bearing the weight of older bands in their shoulders, doing old things much better than their ancestors, and hopefully not repeat mistakes that someone else has already done. You can draw that evolutionary line almost from any band to other in their genre, for like, first example that popped in to my mind, to Joy Division in the 70's to Bloc Party of 00's. They are definitely not the same band but still you can hear some haunting traces of old times in new music. And of course, here and then, someone tries to take it back to where it came from. Most of times it's a horrendous disaster.

This woke me up one night to think about how our band will evolve and to whet? What we will do?
I'm sure we're not onto some 3 albums of our own sound, then some shitty "artistic" and "avant-gardist" trash and then that oh-so-sucking "back to the roots" - album.

I believe that in couple of years this is pretty close what we will look and sound like, after Mikko gets his bass pedal board finished.

So, sneak peak of our live performance around 2010-2011 tour on eastern europe:

Hello world.

We saw it was coming but no-one struggled against it. Sometimes it's bad to struggle against some force greater than you, you'll just get brain bubbles and paralyze. So here it is: new link between our world and Your world, humble noise-bearing messenger which lights up the chaos and confusion between us. Don't blame him.

In other words, yet another (hopefully not so) lame band-blog. I find it much more variable and easier way to spread information and other babble about our doings than some manually laboured "news" - section in our webpage.

I hope that this blog will also provide that enthusiastic love we share about our and others music by mind-bending hype-articles about new equipment we have bought, some bands we have found, some things that we love. We'll see.

So, some time has gone by since last sign of life in our camp, but it's just been our fault. We've been lazy on this internet-side of our band.

To wrap it up a little, here is last eight or nine months in about eight or nine lines:

In spring we did fast 3-gig southern Finland murder with Endrive. Some of us survived. Set was same in all of the evenings, containing songs:

  • Monolith
  • Thin Air
  • North Star
  • Caravans
  • Transmission Medium/Zenith

Two of the shows were caught on tape. I've seen those and can assure you that there is nothing to see in here, move along. Gig at TVO had quite good sound quality on tape so I might just upload it in here in couple of years, just in pure nostalgia. And to prove myself that some improvement has happened during those years.

We had well earned (yeah right) summer off from the band and we returned to our humble rehearsal hall in the beginning of the fall. Songs had their new flavour, everything worked fine, some new songs began to form up, there are 4 vocal tracks now. Some improvement here and there.

Currently we are practising our new set, including at least 2 new songs, maybe all 3 new songs of our next, yet untitled, EP. It will run for about 35-40 minutes with them.

So, now you know. Thanks.
